Early Life/Career
-Born to Morris and Mary Weinrib. His stage name, Geddy, was inspired by his mother's heavily accented way of saying 'Gary'.
-His parents were Jewish refugees from Poland who had been survivors of the Dachau and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps during WWII.
-Says that the 2 most 'Jewish' things about him are his nose and sense of humor.
-His vocal style has been referred to as an "amazingly high" tenor. During his early years, it was said to be a Robert Plant-like wail.
Personal Life
-Avid wine collector, collecting as many as 5,000 bottles.
-Enjoys hiking, long distance cycling, tennis, collecting baseball memorabilia, art collecting, and travelling
-On June 5, 2008. he donated his entire collection of nearly 200 autographed Negro League baseballs to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.
