Career
-In 1979, starred on the sketch comedy Not the Nine O'Clock News.





-This led to his role on the medieval sitcom Blackadder, which he co-wrote with Richard Curtis in 1983. This sitcom went on to become on the most successful BBC situation comedies. It went on into other versions, such as Blackadder II(1986) in the Elizabethan Era,  Blackadder the Third(1987) in the Regency Era, Blackadder Goes Forth(1989) set in World War I

-In 1990, he went on to star in a role he would be forever known as. Mr. Bean. In 1997, he starred in a film called Bean. In 2007, a sequel to this was called Mr. Bean's Holiday.
-In 1995 and 1997, he went on to play Inspector Raymond Fowler in The Thin Blue Line, which takes place in fictitious Gasforth

-In 1993, he starred in Hot Shots, Part Deux, playing Dexter Hayman
-He really gained attention when he starred in Four Weddings and a Funeral, playing a verbally stumbling vicar(what they call a priest in England for those who may not know)

-In 2003, he starred in a spoof of the James Bond films called Johnny English and recently starred in the sequel, titled Johnny English Reborn
-In the role of Mr. Bean, Atkinson is best known for his use of physical comedy.
-Since Atkinson suffers from a stuttering problem, he has found a way of combatting it. By using an over articulation of the "B" sound, such as the pronunciation of "Bob" in a Blackadder episode

-Married makeup artist Sunetra Sastry in the late 1980s. She is the daughter of an Indian father and British mother.
-Holds a category C+E lorry(truck) driving license. Got it in 1981 because trcks held a fascination with him
